 Social Media Manager

Location: Virtual

Job Type: Volunteer, Unpaid, From 15 hours a week

Working Environment: Work will be conducted remotely from home office

Term: Minimum 6 month commitment, with possible extension

Start Date: September 2013

About Stop Abuse Campaign

The Stop Abuse Campaign is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world without abuse. We are a 501(c)3 who rely on our volunteer army to engage in messaging and activities that will end abuse.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ignite conversations with a view to substantially growing the Campaign’s presence on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. We will double our followers on Twitter and Facebook in the next 6 months and develop our first 1,000 followers on Linked in, Google+, Instagram and Flickr

  • Develop growth strategies and tactics and revisit them monthly in the form of a report with metrics and suggested improvements.

  • Engage in communications with Stop Abuse Campaign leadership, campaign leaders and followers in general.

  • Stay on top of relevant conversations on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and repost and respond to most significant posts.

  • Work with staff and volunteer blogger to identify posts for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn; on a  weekly basis. Follow up monthly events with pictures on Pinterest.  Build communities on each platform in support of our campaigns.

  • Develop and launch social campaigns, competitions, polls and contests.

  • Analyze results and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the social media campaigns.

  • Maximize functionality of on social media platforms to grow and engage followers.

  • Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the Stop Abuse Campaign`s brand and report to a supervisor.

Desired Qualifications:

Familiarity or willingness to learn HootSuite platform

Experience in the nonprofit world

BA or equivalent degree

Passionate about sustainability and eager to learn

Has work experience in social media and marketing

Has excellent verbal and written communication skills

Is self-directed, eager to meet and exceed objectives

Strong commitment to ethics, honesty, and integrity in conducting business

Sense of humor and desire to enjoy your work
