HOW TO HELP
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Stop Abuse Campaign. By agreeing to do so, you help change the world to one that’s free of abuse.
Hello, my name is Ron Wicke, a father, a survivor and the National Director of Development for the Stop Abuse Campaign. Part of my job is to make sure that you, our volunteers, our AbuseStoppers, remain updated and informed about how and when you can help.
We are dependent on you to get involved, get your family, friends, neighbourhoods, schools and churches involved because to stop abuse, it’s going to take all of us.
How to help is pretty easy because there is lots of work to be done.
TIME
Commit to giving a certain amount of time to volunteering. Figure out how much commitment is actually doable, whether it’s a few hours a day, a week or a month. Once you’ve decided, then have a look at the list below and let me know where the best fit for you would be, or just let me know you’ll help with anything! We find people help better if they’re comfortable with what they’re doing because it’s about all of us just doing what we can.
We’re building tools so everybody can spend just a few minutes thinking about their safety and the safety of those they love, we call it safety planning. They’ll be available soon but for now here are some ways you can help.
JOIN THE CAMPAIGN
If you haven’t already, click the link and join the campaign. One dollar a month is all we ask, more if you can afford it. Your money goes directly into our efforts and the efforts of other organizations that benefit from half of all of our proceeds. Luckily, we’re low overhead!
SOCIAL MEDIA
Like us!! Support us on Facebook, Twitter, and Linked in. Share our news stories on your FB page and let’s get people talking! Get your friends to like us and join us on Facebook.
SPEAK OUT/SPREAD THE WORD
Reach out and talk to other individuals, groups and organizations about the Stop Abuse Campaign and about how all of us can work together to end abuse in this generation.
We’re building the tools and the training you’ll need to do this necessary work. As we progress and take on social, media and political campaigns to raise awareness, money and recognition, we’ll need you in numbers more than ever. It takes a lot of voices to create real change and that’s exactly what is called for, a real sea change in America’s perspective on abuse. It really is about all of us just doing a little. Think about it this way, we know how to stop abuse, we’ve just got to do it. All of us working together breaking the cycle of violence.
COMMENTS ENCOURAGED Tell us what you think. We’re here to help you stop abuse. Tell us what you think of current events, submit your own fact based articles on Child Sexual Abuse, Trauma, Intimate Partner Violence, Elder Abuse, Bullying, etc.
