Parents angry they were not told of day care sex abuse
Some parents are pulling their children out of Kidz Ink 2 – a day care in Bear – after discovering they were never told an employee was caught on video kissing the lips of a 7-year-old student approximately 18 months ago.
Even though state law does not require the day care or police to notify parents, many were outraged that they learned of the incident only when The News Journal reported this week that Anthony Rodriguez, 21, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing three students.
“You are expecting these people to take care of your children, and now they are hiding one of the most important things,” said one woman who moved her 3-year-old son from the day care on Porter Road to a new facility this week. The woman asked that she not be identified. “It is absolutely horrifying knowing my son was in a school with a sexual predator.”
