America’s elderly population is rising, causing major stress on a health care system that is ill equipped, underfunded, over-stretched and over-worked to handle it. Regardless of the fact that most health care professionals perform extraordinary work under these conditions abuse rates are fast on the rise in our nations nursing homes and elder care facilities.  The Stop Abuse Campaign recognizes it’s a largely  broken system and part of our plan is committed to investing in education and awareness on abuse within the health care community itself so that real change can take place.

Last year, almost 30,000 elderly Texans were victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation. As Matt Largey of KUT News reports, the problem is especially pronounced in Central Texas, where the elderly population is growing rapidly.

To these indispensable members of our extended family, we ask that they express that belief in a tangible commitment.  All we ask is $1.00 a month, $12.00 a year to show you believe the first right of every victim of abuse is to not be abused and that by all of us working together we can stop abuse here in America in 25 years.
