National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we want to remind everyone that abuse is a horror so chilling that our first impulse is to turn our heads, hoping that if we ignore the reality, it will go away.
But this is a child’s game.
Only concerned, dedicated adults can address this growing problem. When we do, we find that we are far from powerless to prevent abuse in all its masquerades.
Abuse can stop. Children can grow up without fear. Domestic partners CAN live in harmony.
Families are supposed to support and protect one another. Partners and spouses are supposed to show care, trust, and kindness for one another through acts of love. When passionate anger overpowers a person’s sense of love for his or her partner, they abuse, physically or emotionally. Throughout October, we want to make it our mission to spread this knowledge, and help stop this behavior. Domestic violence occurrs in homes all over our country, every single day. Be the change. Help it stop.
