  • Creating safe environments free of abuse.

  • Ensuring all child abuse is reported into the system and effectively handled.

These programs are under increasing financial pressure from spending cuts caused by the economy. Survivors who need our help shouldn’t be victims of spending cuts, too. Your money will go the the programs that are working, on the ground, right now.

  1. Presently I manage an online support group for women survivors of abuse; either childhood or domestic violence. There are numerous blogs I have posted about the necessity of awareness against abuses that occur in our homes. THESE ARE CRIMES!!! The victims are always the ones who are left torn apart and to carry the burden of shame, which the predator’s weakness is shown by hiding his secret within his victims. I have shared my horrific story of a life stolen by abuse. The multiple of sadistic attacks from my stepfather and my mother’s severe neglect which has left my body with deep ugly scars, both inside and out. The novel, “My Justice” is the voice of the little I was and how the abuses against her taught her to accept and expect nothing good in her life. The town in which I grew up all feared my stepfather and turned a blind eye to his crimes. The horrid filth that covered my body and infected my skin; the years of never being given medical treatment or taken to the dentist, not even the provision of toilet paper or a toothbrush in our home, all of this was ignored by the school system I attended for nine consecutive years and by the law enforcement that refused to help the children in our home. It was a complete acceptance by everyone to allow my childhood to be destroyed. Now I use my story to bring awareness to others, also to inspire and encourage other survivors to share their stories so that we can educate the world about the pain we were strong enough to survive and how the scars left on us often pass forward to infect the lives of our children. It is time for us to unite our voices as one and beg our politicians to create mandated federal compliance across the globe, so that all crimes of child abuse will be reported and prosecuted to the full extent of our laws. We have to make the appointed system of assistance accountable for the salaries they earn. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect those in their circle of life. When you see a child on a regular basis and you come to know that child, then you will truly know when it is time to report the acts of cruelty against them. We can no longer ignore and allow these monsters to prey on our children and steal away the innocence to to them by God. I take your pledge and I am also a member of the Dreamcatcher for Abused Children. If it is within my power to bring awareness, education and a safer tomorrow for these precious gems; if I can help them to recognize their strength within and give them the power of voice, then I will be complete in my mission. Stop Abuse is everyone’s responsibility!!!

    • Our children are our future. What kind of future are we looking at, when our children are so broken and angry? I have accepted the responsibility to stop is abuse, where I can. My foundation The S.E.L.F. Image Awards’ goal is to create mass awareness of Domestic Violence, to educate and support both victims and survivors.
We believe that we must teach children self-love and empowerment through positive image building. As a hairstylist I am in a unique position that gives me a captive audience. We are committed to this work and I am proud to take this pledge.

    • Tricia, you are so right. And so brave for taking a tragedy and turning it into a blessing for others who need you. Thanks for pledging.
