DISD elementary teacher arrested for sexual abuse of student
According to DPD, 53-year-old Jorge Ruiz, a teacher at Kramer Elementary School, was taken into custody around 6:30 a.m. He was placed in Lew Sterrett Jail with bail set at $200,000 — $100,000 for each offense.
A therapist contacted police on Sept. 30 about an alleged incident based on what her 7-year-old client told her about what had happened two years before, according to the arrest warrant.
Police then forensically interviewed the young girl. She told them Ruiz had been her first grade teacher, and one day while the other students were outside at recess, Ruiz had told her to put her hand in his pocket because there was “a bunny” inside.
