Child sexual abuse investigation lands three in jail
By Erin Zeller and Taina Maya
A child’s outcry of sexual assault leads to a months-long investigation and several arrests.
Detectives told News 10 Saturday morning charges of trafficking have been filed against Trey Cartwright.
The Waco Police Crimes Against Children unit and Robinson police with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals served search warrants on two different homes at the same time Thursday.
Trey Cartwright was arrested for continuous sexual assault of a child Thursday at a home in Ross. Detectives said the victim was abused for four years. Cartwright remains in jail on a $250,000 bond.
At the same time, another team went to a home in Robinson to execute a search warrant in connection to the original case. There, they arrested Frederick Lougheed for five counts of sexual assault of a child. During the search detectives learned of several other possible victims, and additional charges are expected. They have identified at least two victims.
Public records indicate Lougheed has a criminal record with several previous charges including DWI, theft by check, escaping custody, and resisting arrest. He is being held on $1.25 million bond.
